VANCOMYCIN -
Noun: A drug which is a highly effective antibiotic against some forms of bacteria. It is derived from a micro-organism found in Indonesian and Indian soil. It can have very severe side effects such as damaging the inner ear or the kidneys. Due to this it's blood levels are carefully monitored and it's quantities adjusted accordingly.

VITAL SIGNS -
Noun: The signs of life; namely the temperature, pulse, respiration (the breathing) and blood pressure.

Latin - vita = life
Latin - signum = sign
