ZOSTER IMMUNE GLOBULIN - Noun: A drug which protects certain people from getting severe chicken pox infection or shingles. It will temporarily protect them against the chicken pox for about 3 weeks. It would be given if the AA or MDS patient had any exposure to the virus or tests showed it in his/her system.
It can have side effects such as fever, pain at the injection site or sore muscles. More seriously and rare are difficulties breathing, chest pains or tightness and skin itching with a rash or hives.
- Greek - zoster = to girdle like a belt (from the rash one would get under it) +

- Latin - munis = obliging +
- Latin - globulus = globe (as in anything rounded like a globe.)
